Hamburg–Prague Cycling Tour

Hi everyone! Today, I’m taking you on a very special journey down memory lane. While sorting through my old GPS data recently, I stumbled upon a real highlight: back in 2021, I traveled all the way from Hamburg to Prague!

The Journey Is the Destination: Along the Elbe
Starting from our home base in Hamburg, our route took us along the Elbe for days on end. Anyone who has ever gone on a multi-day tour knows that a trip like this really bonds a group of three together. You share the struggle against stiff headwinds, motivate each other when fatigue sets in, and share the sheer joy of pitching your tent or reaching your next stop for the night after hours in the saddle.
The changing scenery was absolutely incredible—from the flat terrain of the north to the impressive rock formations of the Elbe Sandstone Mountains in Saxon Switzerland, all the way to crossing the border into the Czech Republic. The hills just before Prague really put us to the test, but the feeling of rolling across the Charles Bridge together as a team was simply indescribable.

How to Follow Our Route
Since the route—with all its stops and scenic highlights—is far too beautiful to let gather dust on my hard drive, I’ve put together the full tour for you.
Because standard GPS devices struggle to handle such a long route with countless waypoints, you can find the complete itinerary clearly laid out on Komoot. Just click the link to check out the stages:
